📘 Product Description:

Linear Alkyl Benzene is a colorless, flammable liquid used as the primary feedstock for biodegradable detergents (LAS). Produced via alkylation of benzene with C₁₀–C₁₆ olefins over acidic catalysts, LAB offers high thermal stability and eco-friendly degradation properties

⚗️ Physical & Chemical Properties:

  • Appearance: Clear, colorless to pale amber liquid
  • Density (15 °C): ~0.86 g/cm³
  • Boiling Point: 290–310 °C
  • Solubility: Insoluble in water; miscible with organic solvents
  • Flash Point: > 60 °C

🧪 Production Process:

  1. Paraffin → Olefin: PACOL and DEFINE conversion of n-paraffins to mono-olefins
  2. Alkylation: Reaction of benzene with olefins using HF or AlCl₃ catalyst
  3. Fractionation: Separation of LAB from heavier HAB fractions (C₁₅+)

🧯 Safety & Handling:

  • Hazards: Flammable; vapors irritate eyes and respiratory tract
  • PPE: Chemical-resistant gloves, goggles, ventilation
  • Packaging: 200 L steel drums, IBC tanks
  • Transport: UN 3082 – Environmentally hazardous (liquid)
